I hope the other Far Cry games aren't like this game. EDIT: Thanks for all the responses, it's great to see everyone's opinions on the game. I'm starting Far Cry 2 now but I'm definitely excited for Far Cry 3 and 4. Don't think I'll be playing 5 and Primal since I don't have disk space for those - might just skip to Far Cry 6 when that releases.
It has some of the same negative aspects, but is far more enjoyable than fc2 was. I didn’t finish fc2, but primal I will finish one day. As for the differences to the other games, while there are no guns, it doesn’t lack them. Primal manages perfectly well to create a Far Cry feeling without the usual explosions and gunfire.
On survival mode expert difficulty you are no longer on top of the food chain as in other Far Cry titles: you have to always stay alert, if a predator (most kinds anyway) spots you before you spot it, you are done for. You will carefully consider if attacking animal X is worth the risk and if you can take on the challenge.
Far Cry Primal is probably more of the "survival" one. It has options for a hunger meter and stuff. Here's the thing, I love Primal, but I fully understand that it is not for everyone. Understand that there is a fair amount of gathering, traveling, and hunting that is a part of the gameplay loop. Pros: it's gorgeously stylized and immersive.

Game is great! But I think I should have been more like far cry 4. Far cry 4 is story based and always makes a player do other things and follow the missions. While far cry primal is opposite and doesn’t actually have a story. If it had a storyline to follow the game itself have been great.
