So far I haven't figured out how to mount the squashfs file as my root filesystem. I've tried doing it manually to test: mkdir /tmp/sda1 mount /dev/sda1 /tmp/sda1 mount -t squashfs /tmp/sda1/rootfs.sqsh /. which, not surprisingly, results in a mount failure (32). And if that wasn't enough, I'm not able to do chroot in my system. When playing with linux distros, there are times where you want to be able to extract or add content to a squash filesystem. Under linux, there is rather straight forward but under windows there is not a given. Doru Baru has made the squashfs tools available for windows here. Duplicate files will be removed, so there will be only one physical instance (By the SquashFS 2.x, you can disable the detection/removal of the duplicates with the -no-duplicates option).
